The Notes: Week of August 28 - September 1, 2023

It's Fifth Week, Neighbors!  This will be a short post for y'all to read as there are no meetings at all scheduled this week in City of Appleton government.

This week, we can expect to see our new property assessment notifications as the city will be mailing them tomorrow (August 29, 2023).  For the most in depth information on this citywide revaluation, please take a look at this city website page.  It is full of vital information for property owners.

It's important to note that the only thing that will cause a citywide increase in the city portion of property taxes is a new city budget with more government spending.  This particular revaluation (required by state law) is to properly redistribute the taxes collected by the city... not to get more tax dollars from property owners.

An informal "open book" period is open for all property owners to discuss your assessments/revaluation with the city assessor September 5th through September 22nd (Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm).  You can call 920 832-5850 or email the assessor's office to schedule a time to go through your assessment and have your questions answered.  I am also available for feedback and questions regarding this revaluation, so please email me.

On another note... with the Labor Day holiday fast approaching, please be sure to review the holiday schedule for garbage and recycling pickups in our neighborhoods:

How is it possible that it's almost Labor Day?!  Before we know it, school will be starting and we'll see more traffic near our neighborhood schools.

And that's about all there is to share this week.  I wish you an excellent last week of August and a fabulous Labor Day long weekend!  As always, please contact me with your questions, concerns, and/or feedback.  I'm always happy to do what I can to help.
